These are the guys behind the acclaimed story driven game The Walking Dead, Batman – The Telltale Series and The Wolf Among Usjust to mention a few. It is unfortunate that such a big studio is closing its doors to the world of gamers.
The CEO and Founder of the company Kevin Bruner announced that he was leaving his own company back in March 2017 and later reported that the reason he left was due to disagreements with the board members therefore forcing him to step down as CEO; that’s when the end began.
The company began laying off up to 25% of their employees in the course of 2017 and this was a big red flag that the company was doomed to fall.A deeply sourced report from The Verge alleged that Telltale operated under toxic management and this lead to creative stagnation of the developers working there. Among the many shocking claims in the report is that employees worked as many as 18 hours per day for weeks on end and even one of the employees sued the company claiming that he and some other staff members weren’t paid for the extra working hours.
The last nail on the coffin was in October 2018, when Telltale laid off the majority of their employees and was operating with about 25 employees. This lead to the company declaring bankruptcy.
Currently, according to GameDaily, Telltale Games has begun the bankruptcy process, enlisting the help of an outside studio to liquidate the game company's assets. Not only that, but it appears a number of Telltale's games have been removed from Steam and potentially other stores, which makes sense if Telltale is indeed going under.
However, they are not just going under and keeping gamers at bay, they have promised to complete their walking dead the telltales series final season, episodes 3 and 4 before they officially close their doors. Though they are still not clear on the exact release dates.
What do you think of this and what games are you going to miss from Telltale Gaming Series? Stay tuned for more information.
