Injustice 2 is a 2D fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios; it’s set in a fictional DC universe where heroes and villains are pitted against one another.
The DC universe has been brought to life in this fighting game as it has rich lore embedded into every aspect of the game. The game features a captivating and fun story that explores a fraction of the characters on the roster. The narrative is great and there are smooth transitions from cut scenes into the fighting arena. It is akin to watching a very interactive movie that allows the player to forge a desired ending, though slightly limited as there are only two endings to the story.
The game offers a comprehensive tutorial to get the player familiar with new and returning mechanics to the series. If that is not enough each character has a basic tutorial to give players a small understanding of what a character can do.
For those interested in PvP activities, there is local and online multiplayer where players can participate in game modes such as: 1v1 ranked, 1v1 player match, King of the Hill & Hot Seat.
For the PvE oriented, there is a ton to do. Injustice 2 offers a comprehensive ladder system with various modifications and difficulty, this is the Multiverse. There are two types of multiverses in Injustice 2: one can be tackled alone and the other is for those who decide to join a Guild, which is also a new addition to the series. The guild multiverse allows for cooperation when defeating bosses, up to 3 members can fight a single boss.
Injustice 2 took it a step further and introduced a loot system with different looking pieces of gear with their own unique stats to aid players in the multiverse and unranked player matches. Loot boxes aka Mother Boxes can be earned by completing activities in the game with the best loot attainable from the multiverse. There is also a level for each character which caps at 20. Reaching this per character unlocks gear and abilities for that character, allowing for a very personalized playstyle.
Since its release, it has had one or two bugs that have caused loss of progression for some players. However, these issues have been addressed in patches, most recent being the July Patch.
9/10 – It is a wonderful and fun game that caters to the needs of different kinds of gamers. Due to the introduction of a loot system, the game has high replayability. It has a great story with entertaining narrative and a large roster on launch. It is probably one of the best fighting games out now.
